Default Frustrated

Went out today and heard a woodpecker hammering away, waited for a bit when the local constabulary turns up in a patrol car, asks what I'm doing as if it isn't obvious with a socking great lens hanging off me! He eventually went off satisfied I wasn't an egg thief. Moved on and saw a beautiful little wren but couldn't focus before he left. Heard a lot of singing but no sightings. On the drive back home spotted a male pheasant, stopped the car and focussed but there was a fence in the way, just as he cleared the fence a bush obscured his head ... Aaargh. All I got from the afternoon was a butterfly, at least it had wings

You should have told him you were going to "shoot" the birds... livened up his day!

Your day sounds like mine when it comes to capturing a hawk on a perch ... they always fly either as I stop in a car or when I get within a thousand yards or so of them. A friend has about 100 clips of a hawk that posed for him for at least half an hour... all within full frame distance ... I have no such luck.

Better than I got the day I shot a whole series of shots of a gorgeous cardinal... with no memory card in the camera...
