Default Shooting a boyfriend and girlfriend suggestions

My best friend asked me to take some shots of him and his girl friend. These will be most likely outside in the daylight. There will some nature type ones ( in the grass leaning on trees things like that). And some will be with buildings (greek architecture).

Here is my equipment XSI, 18-55is, tamron 75-300, vivitar 3500 zoom thyristor flash, 33" shoot through umbrella with a black cover for reflection, and a 33" silver/gold reflector with a solid white back side.

I just got the umbrella equipment so this will be my first time using it, so my main question would be when do i want use the shoot through or the black cover for reflection. I would probably only be using it for fill light or to give them some separation from the background. I also know that the shoot through allows you to bring the light much closer to the subject.

Any other tips will be appreciated

Thanks
Roshan

I don't understand what your looking for? If you're shooting in the day the only thing I would even consider on a candid style shoot would be a reflector.
Also, just on personal experience, it really matter where the sun is on the sky. I got a late start last fri. when I shot a couple outside(around 6 instead of 4) and the very orange sun and the very hard long shadows that killed about every shot. Thankfully I found some decent shade.
Hope this helps.
