hey everyone, another question here.
I have the below photo, and the owner wants the sign entrenous done in black. I've tried using the colour replacement tool in cs4, but too much of the background it's on and lights etc. are the also changing, or not enough of the sign is changing if i really narrow it down. any quick way do make it black lettering? thanks for the input.

No, there's no quick way, I'm afraid.
I did one of these recently - I found it was easier to get the company's black logo from their website, and manipulate it into place over the top of the other one.

You could try doing a selection first and then applying the replace color to just the selection.

Yes, it would work, but it would be as tedious as hell to get right.
Trust an old cheat on this one ... find a new logo and just whack it in.

Copy the little one on the window (better contrast with the BG). Blow it up, sharpen and reverse color, then drop it in place.

Steal the white version of the logo from the websit, located on the door, and reverse it and place it on a cleaned background. Takes 10 min.

I just can't seem to get the edges nice and straight and flat... the selection is all squibbly edged and FAT... tried different options in the select>modify just not getting it down

thanks for the help everyone. I got the client to send me the logo that is on the homepage, once i had that, it was much easier to cut it out and change the colour.
cheers,

these sort of things take a bit of work to look realistic. it's easy to do it on a smaller web image, but for print it's almost not guaranteed to look right.
what's this for?
