Default Strange Wire Thingy

I'm new to this but here goes. I have a Canon digital Rebel xTi 10.1 megapixel. If I remove the lens and look inside the camera, there is a thin wire that runs near the top of the mirror and appears to almost touch it. This wire runs from one side of the opening to the other side of the opening. Doe nayone know if this is supposed to be there?

If it doesn't affect the operation of the camera, don't bother it. Could just be part of the mirror system or something that fell out from inbetween plastic parts. Best course it to not do anything, and if it's a problem, send it to get fixed.

Welcome to the forum.

Do you have another camera? Can you post a pic?

Not exactly, I may have a friend who can do that for me tomorrow. The camera appears to work fine. At first I thought it looked like a long cat hair, but it appears to be fixed to something. I just thought it was weird that it runs so close to the mirror. Of course if the mirror is to move anywhere, it would seem like it would flip down and actually travel further away from the wire in question.
