Default FIA GT Championship - Silverstone

Hi There,

Here is a selection of my shots from last weekends first Round of the FIA GT Championship from a warm and sometimes sunny Silverstone. Fortunately there wasn't any rain this year, however the wind was still quite keen (but dry and no wind would be too much to ask from this circuit which seems to have its own micro climate!).

As always all C&C welcomed.

#1 - Aston Martin V8 Vantage at Abbey

#2 - Corvette C6R leading the pack through Farm

#3 - Saleen S7 heading into Abbey (and on to win the race - a second win in succession for Sharp and Wendlinger at Silverstone)

#4 - 2010 spec Ford GT1 chasing a Corvette through Abbey

#5 - Porsche 911 RSR charging toward Maggots and on to a GT2 class win

#6 - Salleen S7 heading out of Copse

#7 - The other 2010 spec Ford GT1 heading into Abbey

#8 - Maserati MC12 charging through Farm / Abbey. Could this season be the swansong season for the Maserati MC12 with the revised 2010 Word GT Series regulations kicking in next year? I hope not it's a fantastic car.

Cheers

Thanks for the positive comments guys. I have a bit of soft spot for the Porsche 911 RSR's too Justin. They just look so low, wide and menacing chasing those pesky Ferrari's

I think the lens I was using is in need of some repair / calibration. My 50-500 Sigma seens to be making a very slight squeak internally when the focusing motor is moving from one extra to the other. Nothing major, but it wasn't doing that last year when I used it. I think this may have something to do with the higher percentage of naff shots I got at Silverstone. I have contacted Sigma about it, and they think it might be the HSM focus motor on the way out, which is a £130 job to repair. Better get it sent off though so it's back in time for Le Mans in a months time

A good series,Kev,not easy with circuit racing.
Lovely machinery well photographed.
Not technically perfect but some brave shutter speeds.
No 6 Saleen my pick, followed by Mazza.
