Cream of the Crop
|
[ PLEASE limit to 2 pix only ]
I have been reading an old magazine that talked of this gutsy attitude, this 'who dares wins' & 'just do it' guerilla type attitude that is often the only way to grab the right angle - the right view - the right composition that makes the shot. Its the hunting instinct of old kicking in, its the same adrenalin! This prized "trophy" or yours (no matter what camera used) would've been only mediocre at best or even just impossible without having to: jump a fence or Police Line, trespass, hangout with deathly ill patients, risk violence from criminals, get close up to celebrities that make you a mass of jelly, wait in a freezing hide all day or night, having to disguise the fact that you a using camera, etc etc. You know what I mean. Most members have a "trophy" pic... bring out your secrets!! Shows us how your courage was rewarded.

I'll dig around-- but I took some shots in 1986 in what was then East Germany-- shots of "Popes Revenge" in East Berlin" and murals of Stalin and Lenin-- all of which were off limits to take. Held the camera under a comforter I had just bought. Give me a few days to dig them up.

I love them. Its mostly what used to sell Newsweek and Life etc. Its a worthy thread, but perhaps not enough of us have anything to show...

i may aswell get the ball rolling
here's a crappy pic i took with my IXUS 30 against the sun, i wanted a 'wow' pic of the dam wall, so i jumped over the 6ft wall so i could get down low and get a shot of the wall, it turned out like absolute crap, but the effort was there none the less. althought it looks like i'm not that high up because of the tree, i assure you if i fell, i wouldn't be typing this today. ![]() ![]() the photos look alot better at the full size.

Signs are there for a reason... I ignored the signs and walked in the area.. I managed to capture shot number two.. It would have been a better image if I was closer, but I was running pretty fast back to the truck after I took it.

Great photo of the bear. I would love to have a chance to take a photo like that.
