Default Circuit de Cataluna F1 (Spain)

Went to the F1 last weekend and had a great time.

First outing with the 50d and it is a mighty impressive bit of kit. I used my 70-200 2.8 with a 1.4x for the practice and my 28-135 for the main race.

Only comments are I should have used a slower shutter speed (thanks for the tips on PH!), apart from that I'm happy.

More can be seen on my Flickr page here http://www.flickr.com/photos/mogsyma...7617934789495/

C&C welcome

Really nice set of pictures and some great shots on Flickr too. Also, I don't think the shutterspeeds were too high, there's enough movement in the pans.

Thanks Tessa.

I thought the shutter speeds were OK, but C&C from another site suggests down to as low as 1/40th to 1/125th for good background blur.....there's no way I'm good enough yet to pan at those speeds

Cheers Phil

Shame F1 is falling apart at the moment! (although I suspect all will be OK by the start of the next season )

My favorite is the Renault, Alonso, I suppose.
I would be curious to see panning on F1 cars at such low shutter speeds. 1/125th may be but 1/40th I really doubt it ; F1 cars are very fast.

I spent last Monday at the F2 testing at Silverstone and tried various slower shutter speeds....

Spent the day with Martin Brundle, former F1 driver - a very interesting friendly guy who's knowledge is second to no one.
