Default Please help - Cricket Lens

Hi All

I can't decide please help.

I currently use my Sigma 70/200 F2.8 with X1.4 & X2 converters.

I'm looking at the
Sigma 120-400mm f/4.5-5.6 DG OS HSM

Can't outlay the cash for canon 100/400.

Would this produce good results and give me OS for non sport?

Or is the best option to stay with the converter combo and save money?
I use the 70/200 F2.8 for ice hockey so selling is not an option.

Cheers Phil

the 120 400 would be used at 400 and thus f5.6 .. you can just about get away with a 400 at cricket but will still need to crop heavy.. cricket played in sunlight you will be OK .. but 20/20 in evening light i wouldnt be so sure wiht f5.6

whalley bridge? wheres your nearest ice hockey? Altricham for manchester stingers?

My son plays for Sheffield, he used to play at the old Altrincham rink when it was open.

Alty has a new rink hosting all the old teams http://www.manchesterphoenix.co.uk/

As you said big crops required for cricket, but good for hobby shots and the players to view.
