Default how to clean view finder for Canon 40d

I've searched for awhile for a solution but it doesn't look like I got anything really help.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to clean viewfinder?

I saw 3 big black dots in my viewfinder and I am pretty sure it's not the sensor or mirror (mirror replaced last week). I even tried to use comp. air, but it didn't help.

Thanks

Probably it is on the focusing screen. If so, it is a nuisance to you, but doesn't affect the picture. Focusing screen on 40D is removable, but it is also VEEEEERRRRRY delicate, so do NOT take out the screen and wipe/brush it. Do not touch the surface of the screen. If you must, remove the screen and put under running water (holding it by the edges only) and then rinse with distilled water (to prevent mineral buildup as it dries, and spotting) and then air dry with the screen standing on edge.

Yea. it is removable. I did this on my XT. Five seconds to pop it out. One hour to put back in. :/

edit - This should help you a lot...

Wonder if i would have ordered a new XT focus screen that it would have included said tool. that would have helped a ton!

a simple few puffs with a rocket blower should do the trick. It does for me.
