Default Need Newborn Help

I will be practicing on my first newborn tomorrow. He is 3.5 weeks old. I only have a G9, no lighting or props. I am taking an ind. study class and picked newborns/babies as my topic just to better myself.

I will be going to the babies home so I will welcome all ideas of poses, etc. to get some good newborn shots without anything other than a G9 camera and the baby.

Thanks

Find a big window with some sheer white curtains. Cover a Boppy, pillow, etc with a white sheet and put it on the floor or a table.

Don't move the baby any more than you have to or it'll just make him cry. Work slowly, calmly and take as many shots as you can when the baby is in any one position.

If you have a reflector, you can use it for a bit of fill, or just take a big white piece of cardboard/posterboard as that will work as well.

If you're comfortable processing RAW, shoot it all in RAW. If something's out of focus or otherwise "off", just turn it B&W and it becomes "art".

Thanks for the suggestions I couldn't go out and get black fleece but she should have a white sheet I can use. I am comfortable with RAW so I will use that today too. I am going there for about 10am but not sure what direction her house faces, hopefully I can find a window with some good lighting.

Thanks again.

hi, i find babies are easiest to photograph when they are two weeks old and under. they still have the bediness from being in thier mummies tummy. much easier to pose!!!

I will be going back today, he is right over a month old now. His two older sisters (3 and 6 I think) will be there too. I tried to get some hands and feet pics but none came out right. All looked strange. I will try again today. Thanks
