Default Typical Michigan

Composition isn't great - how to make it better ? What about colors, brightness etc. (Not PPd only resized).

line up the shore line with the bottom third or top third line perhaps (google "rule of thirds photography")? a bit of foreground would also help and/or not taking the photo from 6 feet off the ground (crouch down LOW to get a more interesting vantage point)
