Recent Baby Photos

These are a few baby photos that I've taken in the last couple of weeks. I am pretty new to photography and even newer to studio lighting. Am I on the right track. What do I need to improve?

Nothing "wrong" with them at all.
Perrrrrsonally....I think that full-face shots are better with more oblique lighting, rather than most of the light coming from almost behind you (judging by the catchlights in #3). I'd move main light round to the side more, or turn their head a little (I know that's hard with kids).
How are you balancing the two lights?

They are 2:1, both at about 45 degrees. I'll try moving that light around next time. Thanks.

I think, being new myself, that this is GREAT work for starters! Their faces are nice and crisp (my terminology may be incorrect).... What I THINK would take them to the next "level" as I hear alot...would be to have another light shined onto a background to fit the scene.... I am trying to learn to do this myself... I can finally get a decent image, but my backdrop (mainly black) just seems to say "gee I am cute but standing in front of the black hole of infinity"!

I especially love the one of the little girl.... imagine this same exact shot with a hint of soft pastel garden path or something like that in the background.... you can still vignette the corners dark...but have some light to seperate the subject from "nothingness".....
