Default Parkway Drive/Architects/August Burns Red/HvH (22/08/09) MOSH SHOTS (hi-iso 50D)

Hey all!

Just thought id drop some shots i took in the pit while getting thrown about with my 50D and nifty fifty. The 50mm is so slow to focus, so trying that while being thrown around was destined to be a nightmare but i got some okay shots = ]

I had my 540EZ with me but decided against flash because I didnt want it to drown out the stage lights - Wishing I had of used it on a few shots just to fill in a bit of the shadows.

Oh well, we live and we learn.

here goes!

All shots ISO 3200/6400 with the backgrounds pushed to 6400+ (to try and make them match the spotlights that were on the performers) so expect some grainnnn.

#1 - Parkway Drive

#2 - Parkway Drive

#3 - Parkway Drive

(Parkway's Lighting was pretty harsh... probably most happy with August Burns Red pics - Their lighting was pretty mint for photos)

#4 - August Burns Red

#5 - August Burns Red

#6 - August Burns Red

#7 - August Burns Red

#8 - Architects:

It was a great show - Thoroughly enjoyed. I had to contend with security guards in my face ruining the photos and also being smashed from pillar to post by kids in the pit. - What I wouldn't have done for a press pass = D

C&C Welcome!

Shaun

Some great shots Shaun... did you do any PP work on the ISO6400 images to clean them up a bit or are they straight out of camera? I guess at flickr-compressed size its not as necessary compared to 100% crops.

I just upgraded to 50D from a 350D myself and I haven't had a chance to get out and shoot some live music yet... been scouring street press for some decent gigs to get to!

Hopefully later this week

Hey guys Thanks for your comments. Yes a good time was CERTAINLY had.

Yeah there was a little NR work done through Noiseware but they are still a bit noisy - I wasnt game to push the envelope, i'm still testing the waters with 50D NR and any further with noiseware and i was about to lose all detail.

Thanks about the shots

Ohh the show was SO intense... I came out bruised and battered and had so much fun in the process. Im sure they'll both be playing the same gig sometime - and if they do, jump on it man it was the best gig I think i've ever been to.

House vs. Hurricane

Yeah they're fairly awesome

They're a bit different to Parkway but theyre good in their own right, so good instrumentally and also vocally. Checkout the insane sweeps in 'World Without a Sun' haha.

That's pretty awesome dude.

Yeah Oh, Sleeper is sickk! Their last album was very good and so far I like everything on this one. World Without a Sun is such a legit song haha. I onno if you have the cd yet but the last song, The Finisher, is insanely good.

Yes the finisher is great - I also love reveries of flight for something different, its the token slower song haha.

Damn it I want to shoot them now

You're a very lucky man.

Not too bad for iso 3200 and 6400. Looks a lot better than the 50D I had - though that might be because of the small size of the posted pics, i.e. might look a lot worse at 100% or even 50% of actual size.

3 looks especially good and nice action. 2, 4, 5, 6, and 7 look very good. 1 and 8 look very good also, except for some serious artifact problems when you look at the background. 2 also has some pretty significant artifact problems in the background.
