Hi
There are some who carry their monopods in the exterior of their backpacks, some who use a monopod bag, some who only use their hands... My Lowepro backpack doesn't have any way to attach a monopod. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Just get some velcro fasteners. I have a monopod walking stick. Works great.

I collapse mine in and sling it over my back (camera attached) and just wrap the camera strap around my hand in case the monopod latch comes loose. If I am walking to the event or around the track then I do just the same as Suzy said and use it like a walking stick (more like a staff I guess).

I place my monopod in a Trek-Tech "TrekPod" case and sling it over my shoulder when walking to destination.

My bag has a tripod holder so it fits there, otherwise I'd use it as a walking stick or velcro it to the bag probably.

Where did you get it - I have been after one for a while. I'll buy from overseas, I just want a decent one.

This may be considered cheap, but I was trying to figure out a way to carry my Manfrotto 685B monopod without having to use my hands when I found a carry strap to an old shoulder/gym duffle bag I had with clips on either end. I clipped both ends of the strap to the connection point for the hand strap for the monopod so I can hang the monopod off my shoulder when I walk and my hands are free.
If it continues to work well I'm going to go out looking for a luggage strap with clips to try on it. Hey, it works!

Most of the time, I just carry one of my two cameras on the pod and carry it over my shoulder. BTW: I use a Kirk MPA-1 swivel head with its Arca Compatible quick release.

Try REI, EMS, Hudson Trail Outfitters, or any other camping, etc. store. Trekking poles - get one of the single ones instead of the pairs. The head unscrews and you can fit the camera to the threaded 1/4-20 there.
