I will start a topic on this lens since I guess not many have this speciality lens.
I fond it very sharp wide open on a 5DII. I find that the new wheels work better then older Gen TS-E. Here are some images: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

It's an amazing lens. I use to shot tight with my 70-200 2.8L but now with the TS-E 17 and my 14LII I am loving wide :P

the use of blur feels random and in some of those shots doesn't seem to isolate anything specific within the composition... I mean, it sort of does, but overall the blur feels like a detraction rather than an enhancement. But I suppose if it's used with a specific goal in mind then its purpose is fulfilled. I just can't help but I feel I can take a 17mm shot and selectively mask/lens-blur in photoshop (using multiple layers with varied degrees of blur) without the need of purchasing a 3000 dollar (canadian) lens.
i really like the football shot though. Reminds me I've got to get out to some games this fall and try out the 5D2 at dusk.

Pearlallica:
It's your choice if you want to spend time in photoshop. The thing is that I do not use PS. I only use LR2 so if I cannot do it in LR2 then I do not do it at all. TS-E are not only used for blurred or overhead shots. They can be used for architecture and also shooting tremendous depth of field with speed and a big aperture!
