That looks cool. The more I think about it, the more awesome this camera is to me. I cannot wait for the next 1 series.

I call fake, Oh, wait, never mind.
Seriously, though - why does the lens say EF instead of EF-S?

...Because it's the 28-135mm IS. It's not an EF-S lens.

The new kit lens with the 7D is supposed to be an EF-S?
All of this is making my poor brain hurt. Canon definitely has too many choices in the ~20-135 mm range.

The new lens introduced with the 7D is an 18-135, not the 28-135 shown above. Although I've heard the 7D is being sold with the 28-135 as a kit.

Nah, just linking to a rumor page when I should have linked to a non-rumor page

Press Release:
Canon launches two versatile lenses
for impressive everyday use

London, UK, 1st September 2009: Canon today strengthens its EF-S series of lenses with the launch of two powerful standard kit lenses for EOS EF-S camera owners: the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS and the EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM. Both lenses match the style and performance of Canon’s new APS-C sensor camera – the Canon EOS 7D.

So, now I have to figure out which on is better and wait for the new 18-135 or get the kit with the 28-135?
Oh, bother.
I want the sharper lens, regardless of cost.
I'm going to get a 24-70 f/2.8 eventually, except the stupid rumor pages keep indicating a new one is coming out tomorrow, so I want one of these x-135 to tide me over and then to use on my Rebel for camping trips later.

Ahh, well the 28-135mm is a very old design, 1st gen IS.
Some like it. some hate it

the 28-135mm will work on Full Frame,. the 18-135mm will not buit it is newer design, likely better optics (though that remains to be seen) definitely better IS, and that oh so nice wide 18mm at the low end.

15-85 is where its at as a walk around lens IMO... w/ some fast primes in your bag... total sxeness

I TOO am confused about it being 'labled' as a kit, lens, yet I have yet to see the price point of the 7D kitted with the 15-85 IS USM...
