What settings do you use in these photos?
Let me check my book...

Shot 1:
Camera resting on the tool box on the back of my truck
AV Mode
ISO 400 (And I have no idea why. Always check your settings)
F/8
1/2000th
Focal length 100mm

Post processing with Gimp 2.6
Cropped
Left DPI at 250
Upped saturation by 10

Shot 2:
I had the camera on my tripod
AV Mode
ISO 80
F/4
1/1250th
16mm focal length

Post processing with Gimp 2.6
Cropped
Upped the DPI to 350 when I shrank the pic
Upped the saturation 10

I didn't mess with the color in either pic. It was right after the big snow storm in AZ and the sky was just that clear and blue. We were right at the snow line. We got a lot of rain and very little snow.

Question. Why cant the so called professionals who are reviewing the sx20is not take pictures of the quality on this thread? Are deliberately taking bad pictures in the hope that you'll go out and buy a dslr or something or are they just hopeless photographers? After seeing the quality of the pictures in this thread I ordered a sx20is on Wednesday. I am expecting it possibly on Wednesday or Thursday.

Couple of obvious (to me anyhow) reasons -
  1. They're trying to show what "Joe Average" can expect; people here are pushing the camera as far as they can
  2. They're probably reviewing several cameras a month, from different manufacturers, and can't learn the nuances of a given vendor's feature set

Dundee

One stipulation comes with that Camera when you get it.....
You gotta hang out here and share your pics!!

I often wondered the same thing when I saw all the diff reviews of this camera! (About 6 at least)
I think many cameras get under rated cuz of bias (just my opinion)

I've been down the DSLR money pit.
I THINK I can take just as good or better pics with my lil SX20 and not lug a buncha Camera around to do it.

BTW:
I got tied up with Christmas and New Years and forgot to post this I got the other Morning.

"December Sunrise"
