Default Cracking a whip at 10 fps

This guy performed at the Bristol Renaissance Faire near Chicago.

Keep your eyes on the dixie cup underneath the pewter mug.

Here's a crop of #3:

Nice
(But shows that 10fps is not nearly enough to "spray and pray" and hope you catch the right moment.)

Yup, I could have told you that, Rene! I figure 50 fps at a minimum. I don't even use HSD in boxing ... if you don't anticipate exactly you don't get the image at a piddly 10 fps.

I wonder how long it will be before we have movie/video cameras shooting 20MP images at 30 fps at a consumer price point, and cameras designed for still photography become a thing of the past.

I rarely shoot at 10 fps. It mostly just fills up CF cards with junk. In the theatre I sometimes shoot 2 or 3 shot bursts at 3 or 5 fps, just in case the subject blinks. I found that at 10 fps I would get 2 shots with eyes closed instead of 1.

But there are those rare occasions when a higher frame rate improves the odds of capturing a decisive moment.
