Well let me be the first to say you don't suck. You have the shutter speed down pat. The biggest mistake people make when taking photos of prop planes is crank the ss up. Huge mistake, because you stop the prop. I notice in the EXIF that you were always using Av mode. I know a lot of Canon users and myself use Tv mode at airshows, and play with the ss as needed. Most of the time I use 1/250 for flight shots, and 1/125 or lower for taxi shots. Only other nits is the focus is not crisp on some shots, and dust on the sensor blobs that need to be cloned out.
Good job.

I especially like the banking B-25 (near the bottom), the 3 P-47's (shame it's not a touch sharper) and the taxiing P-40(36?).
Where were they taken? |

they were taken at the chino airport. most of the shots were taken at around 1/125, i think 1/250 would have made the props look too still. This was also my first time really testing out my new 100-400L lens, so im gettin used to it and using the IS and stuff.

Love them all. Don't get to see these gals often enough.
Did you know department: Warbirds are referred to in the feminine because of their propensity to cause large amounts of damage. ![]()

Those P47 jugs would be a nightmare to fight if they had an altitude advantage.
Nice pictures. Some could have been sharper and you might want to remove the dust spots. I'm not sure why these giant dust spots slip by people.....They're so....large.......and black.

these are more likely dust on the sensor. specks on front lens or filter wouldn't show up as such defined spots.
also sensor dust shows up more clearly when you stop your lens down to say f16 or more. -alex Quote:
