Hey guys, don't post much but lurk almost every day. I've been in this hobby for about 2 years now taking it seriously for the last 3-6 months. This past weekend my wife and I hung out with the family in Memphis where I captured what I think is one of the best HDR shots I've taken yet. I'd like to get this one printed to hang in my office. Before spending the money I'd like to get everyone's advice here. I use a dual monitor environment at home, both calibrated with a Huey but I noticed while editing this image that one of the monitors is starting to go dark on me so now I question the color and brightness.
TIA, Jason ![]() |

It has a bluish cast, though that may be OK. It looks a bit too dark to me.

Well. First off.. Glad to see you took interest in posting some of your work.
This shot looks a bit underexposed to me as well. Because of this, it comes across as flat to me. The shot is cool, but I must say that there's no real focal point. I find my eyes drifting throughout the scene, without finding that certain something to rest my eyes on. In other words ... There's really nothing going on in the image. I'm probably being to critical. It's just because I look at too many damn photos every day. lol. None the less, I don't think the image is bad. Keep it up and get to posting more! Thanks. |

yeah, It's just a bit too dark for me. The b&w one does look like it has more potential to me but as stated, is very dark. I'd go as far as to say it needs to be bumped up 1 2/3 to 2 full stops. Can't really do that to many photos in PP without getting intense grain, though.
Also agree with the lack of focal point. I don't mind it at all. Just needs to be brighter. |

Have to agree -- it needs more light, more pop. Perhaps something like this:

Sorry for not getting back to this sooner, I do appareciate your feedback and pointers but I've been fighting a horrible roof leak so my time on the computer has been limited. I've brightened the HDR image and also posted a non-HDR version for Evil_Edge.
This is the Non-HDR version ![]() This is the adjusted HRD. ![]() Jason |
