Default Please help organize the HDR forum

Maybe I'm in a bad mood today, but I'd like to politely request that people use something in their subjects on new posts other than "First HDR" or "First attempt", yadda yadda, yadda.

It makes it a real pain to go back and find older threads to revisit. Give us the subject, or your name, or some piece of info about the photo... Pretty please?

good idea, all posts should have a subjective title that pertains to the image at hand.

Having HDR in the title seems a bit redundant as well...

Here are a few suggestions of a better subject line for this thread:
  • "Undescriptive threads are ruining the Internet, discussion within"
  • "Do lame subject lines cause blindness?"
  • "Hypocrisy: how to start a thread complaining about something, and do it yourself at the same time"

Wow, snappy comeback on a polite request, one that at least a few other people seem to agree with. I'm sure your mom will be proud, and she'll print this thread out and post it on the fridge. Congrats to you for putting me in my place.

There's so much weird negativity on POTN.

People constantly on the lookout to take the moral highground, it's so contrived. It really ruins this place. Luckily there's enough good stuff to keep you interested, because if it was just posters like him, there'd be no reason to post here.

I think it's a fair call.

As pretty much a lurker here ( I'm not very good at HDR) I find I tend to look at ones that actually say what the subject is, just like any thread on any forum really.

I agree with you but I had to laugh at someone pointing out the hypocrissy of your own choice of title for this not being very descriptive. Don't mean that in a nasty way... gotta learn to laugh at yourself

I have to agree with Daniel and Usukshooter. It is a little hypocritical.

Why would anyone be concerned with the apparent hypocrisy of a completely innocent request? I don't understand how it could possibly cause issue to the point where people have to come in and start defending Daniel, who was completely and totally out of line.

I'm not defending Daniel, I'm agreeing with him. Fully, and wholeheartedly.

Chances are very good that I would have said something regardless whether or not Daniel did.

Actually, I don't agree with myself at all, so I'm going to go do something else entirely, and then complain about it.

Food Fight!!!!

Honestly, I think when people put "First HDR" its because it IS their first HDR. That "first" quote does two things: 1) It attracts people -- everyone feels like they can offer a comment on a first attempt, even if they can't, and 2) Its a warning of sorts -- be gentle, its my first time.

Further, I don't understand how it inhibits your searching. Is it that you see a photo you like, then cannot find it again because so much is called "first"? Okay, actually I can see how that would be frustrating. I suggest you create a file on your hard drive, and save the ones you like for further reference. That would solve that problem.

BTW -- Like your photostream. Just got back from NHMS after a day of raggin' out my bosses Miata. Good fun!

Normally I try not to be critical, but I make a special exception for hypocrisy.
