Just thought I'd share a few photos of Charlotte and her family - my first newborn shoot.
Feel free to C & C, I love learning from all of you #1 ![]() #2 ![]() #3 ![]() #4 ![]() #5 - Very annoyed at myself for not noticing the folded pink blanket in this shot, but it's still my favourite of the set. ![]() As always, thanks for looking.

I love number 5 too. How do you go about a shot like this? Do you have black muslin or fabric on the floor? Natural light? Burned the edged in post processing? thanks!

Thanks for the feedback guys
iadubber - I use one of those soft fluffy/silky blankets I picked up at Target a while back. I had really limited space for this shoot and no spare wall to hang the blanket against, so I actually draped it over the back of a sofa. The one with the three of them, they were actually sitting on the blanket on the floor (hence the tight crop). The basket photos were the same - just sitting on top of the black blanket on the floor. The first one though (where Charlotte is kind of curled up), I used a couple of pillows underneath the black blanket so she'd be nice and comfy and cuddle up nicely. As for the lighting - I had the setup facing a large window which is providing the catchlights in their eyes but also bounced my Speedlite off the ceiling and walls (which I think was a nice light cream colour). Aaaaaaand finally, I do try and darken the background in PS while I'm editing. I'm sure there's an easier way to do it but I use the magic wand tool to select the background and just fill it with black. It won't work with some edges (such as the couple shot) but it worked brilliantly on #5. I also extended the canvas for that one. Wow! Didn't realise that post was so big..ahah sorry if it's too much information
