We are back into the fray here. Came home to both boys having head lice...Aaron's was bad so Carrie shaved him bald. Poor kid looks like a chemo patient and he was so upset. I cried right along with him but told him how he looked on the outside didn't change anything on the inside. Ryan was furious at her for doing it without talking to him. I think the lice is coming from her dirty environment she lives in so I brought them both back here yesterday. Hopefully she got everything washed and put back together for the kids.

Oh, Aaron's beautiful red hair! Poor kid! Your son should be mad. This is a good excuse not to have the boys at home, though. She has to do a thorough job. She didn't end up with lice?

Yes, I treated her. I almost told her they were so bad I needed to shave her head!!!!!!!!

She will never wake up. Lives in a world of blame and denial. So sad for my grandbabes but luckily she doesn't want them very often. I have been home 2 nights and the boys have been with me since yesterday. She just texted & asked if i could keep them until tomorrow afternoon Of course!!

LOL, Jon. Nothing is worth losing my grandkids over. Largely, I ignore her because I can focus on the boys instead. At my age, it takes a lot more energy to raise kids than 32 years ago.

Well, you may have to keep them until she gets the lice under control. And it's not just the house being in bad shape, it's the actual getting rid of procedures. One of the families here has a gorgeous house, huge, 5500 square feet . Three daughters and a son under 11. All got it from school, but took 3 weeks to get the lice out of their house. Too much to wash, vacuum and sanitize. One of the girls are in my class and I know they have a perfectly clean home, just got a lot of places those little bugs can hide.

Hats. That's what will help the boys.

Aaron will have to wear sunscreen and a hat all summer. He is okay with the shaved head and I have kept them here 3 days now. He has the lead in the school play this Thursday and since it is about the Gold Rush, I had him ask if it was okay if I bought him an appropriate hat. They said it was fine so we looked on Amazon & ordered a slouch hat with a 2 day rush delivery. It will be here Tuesday.

It is amazing how much I love those boys and would do anything for them. Sometimes it scares me at how protective I am. My son is the same way. Today Aaron told me he wishes he could just be with his dad and me and not see his mom anymore. So sad.

I think some people just don't understand that their actions have consequences, especially their behavior in front of their own children. My kids are used to a yelling mom and have forgiven me for the most part because they know I am trying my best. Maybe in a zillion years, your grandsons will understand why their mother is the way she is and come to terms with it. As it is, they will never have the same relationship with her that they have with you.

Yes, please, Tom. In the long run, the kids would be better off.

Suzie, I try not to yell because it doesn't really help but sometimes the frustration does overtake me My grandsons really do much better if I explain things to them; sometimes after a time out & sometimes before. On occasion, Nick needs a swat. It is the only thing that gets his attention but Carrie really paddles the dickens out of him so I try not to make it more than 1 swat when everything has failed. I always feel terrible afterwards so I don't do it too often. Parenting/grandparenting has to be the hardest job in the world and and being a nurse who has run ragged on many shifts, that is saying a lot.

My sons can drive me nuts, and I get so impatient with them. I forget they can't read my mind. But I can't get them to do everything I need them to, so I compensate, like hiring a cleaning crew for my house and have helpers to drive them around. I am doing so much for others that sometimes, I forget to take care of myself.
