Default G11 Photos Thread.

This one is definetely not the best, but it is the first.

I Just wanted to show a 1600 ISO test shot. Hopefully tomorrow or next week, we'll see actual pictures (good pictures) from others, as they start getting their cameras.

I'ts dark and I'm tired, so just an uninspired from the camera JPG, with no PP whatsoever (except resizing).
Anyway: ISO 1600, P mode, f 3.5, 1/15 Auto white balance.

As expected, very noisy in black, yet very passable in the lighter regions. Also check the camera used 1/15 yet it's sharp enough, so pretty good image stabilization.

Share your own G11 images! I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures.

Well, I've never used another G, so I cant really compare. From what Ive been able to see, The LCD is very sturdy, so no worry about the swivel. The focuse speed seems very good as well as the speed itself, better than I expected, but I havent really shot real world, so I cant say for sure. In general very nice and easy to handle.
Ill say more when I use it more.

Its incredibly fast if you use the quick shot mode.

I estimate the focusing speed varies between 2/3 and 4/7 seconds. But it doesnt fool around like other PSs, it knows what its going for and when it gets it, it locks in immediately. Focusing accuracy seems very good. However I had problems focusing faraway object, I focused on a cloud where cloud meets heaven, but it didnt focus.
I did notice a weird thing, at the lowest focal length, when looking through the viewfinder, the top of the lens appeared, blocking a small part of the bottom of the image. Of course it didnt appear in the final image.
The navigation of the menus was very quick as was everything else.
The little lid covering the USB and HDMI slots seems a bit flimsy, but I can't say it actually is.
Another good thing is that manual focusing is very easy.
Now I'im going to review the photos I took today and probably post a couple.
Cheers

Ok, more Photos.

This is the best I could come up with today:

And here are links to a full size ISO 100 and 3600 comparison:

ISO 100:

ISO 3600:

What do you think?

And remember this is a Photos thread, so post your own too!

Oh I'm sorry, I thought those ones would be full size.
Do you know where I could host full size images, easily (no signing up).

Other than the swivel screen, which is a matter for personal taste, does the G11 do anything that the G10 doesn't do better? I've taken some superb shots with my G10 at both 1600 and 3200. Sure there's noise, but it's acceptable in the context of getting the picture where otherwise it would have been impossible.

I haven't had my hands on the G11, but from reading the specs I don't see why they brought it out. I was expecting the G11 to have a larger sensor, but as it doesn't.....

Yes, lots. LINK

Please post those 1600-3200 ISO shots you mentioned if you don't mind, I would like to see those. All I got was crap at those ISO's with my G10 unless I was posting thumnails or printing wallet size photos.

I think the most interesting thing about that link you posted ^ was the new 1/2000 of a second flash sync speed. That is really neat. I believe my T1i can only do 1/200 internally. Perhaps I will save up for one of these guys...

peter, no offense, but I'm floored someone with a 5D would question a camera with less pixels per area... That's the biggest difference, they cut the pixels back my 33% and I think it's got newer processing (not sure which digic the g10 has but the 11 has IV).
