Default Web Wedding Sales

I am MOST likely shooting a wedding in May and getting my feet wet in wedding photography soooooo I am doing it REAL cheap to get my name out there and to add to my portfolio....

I was thinking about purchasing Photo Cart and adding it to my web site. With 300 guests at the wedding, do you think I would be able to get at least $250 in sales from the people who attend the wedding?

I would be very very surpised if you did. First are you giving the couple a disk of pictures? Because if you are everyone at the wedding is getting anything they want...for free. Second I did a wedding this past weekend, every other (if not more) person had a digital camera and was snapping away furiously. And that wasn't including cell phones. Sales like that have dissappeared if not extinct on the severely endangered list. Better off getting a site like Exposure Manager where you can put up galleries link from your site, make the galleries look just like site and save some money and a lot of work. They will process your credit cards and do the shipping. They get a commission and cost and you get the rest. They have great customer service and produce a large variety of products at a very high quality. Here's a link for a trial and a discount if you want to give them a try.

Hi Dennis

Thanks for the advice and suggestion I think exposure manager is the way to go. I wonder how photographers make money on Pictage? They charge 100 a month. You would have to sell a lot of prints!!!!!

Sad it is going in that direction !!! Sounds like the only items that "might sell" are photo's with some type of..template..collage or special processing.

The only thing we have over the everyone is is that we know how to take an image with the right lighting and do it creatively.

and yes they are getting a CD.. limited to 8X10 print size maximum and my name will be on EVERY image.. Not a watermark though...

Ed, I think that you might have misread the Exposure Manager pricing, as It seems to be $99.95 a year for an event account and $249.95 a year for a Premium account. There are also other photo hosting sites which offer similar fulfillment options as does Exposure Manager. Smug

and DotPhoto

come to mind. Disclaimer I have not personally used ether of these services. I was thinking of offering to photograph a wedding on a similar basis and was talked out of it both by others on PTON and myself (mostly because I wasn't really motivated to do it, being a jeweler rather than a photographer.)

Hi Wayne

Looks like I misread it. Thanks for the catch !!!! If I do it, I do have a Zenfolio account already and can upgrade it. I look at it like an $80 gamble since I have an account already.
If it is something I get into on a steadier basis then I think Photocart is the way to go.

Thanks for the input

there is also Dotphoto

http://www.dotphoto.com/Default_Professionals.asp

Which I did open an account with however I have not used or seen any other fulfillment products. The big advantage of them is that they do not charge to set up an account they just charge a percentage of the fulfillment.
