Dun dun dun...

It was bound to happen to someone, and that someone appears to be me. I've developed an issue with my 7D. There's a line across my images, more apparent at higher ISO. I bought this through Adorama so I hope their customer service will do me right. :) *keeping fingers crossed*

I'm sure this will just add fuel to the fire of 7D haters. But since I'm not a fanboy, just reporting things as it happens (though I wished it didn't happen to me), I think the good/bad and the freak anomalies ought to be mentioned. Hopefully my situation is an isolated one. And hopefully Adorama will take care of this for me.

My best guess is that it's a row (or near complete row) of bad pixels... *playing the world's smallest fiddle*

Toughest part now is waiting for day break so I can give Adorama a ring. :D

How many shots before that appeared?

I'm nearing 1000 on my 7D and no issues (yet). I did get a 17-40L lemon though.

I'm only at ~430 shots.

I think I may have saw signs of it early on in one of my tests. Showed up only at iso3200 but was inconsistent.

But tonight, it's rearing is ugly head in all its glory.

Yeah, that is a pretty significant defect. Hopefully Adorama takes care of you. I'm sending my 17-40 back to Newegg for a replacement.

Nawh... the film base gets scratched as the film is advancing.

But it's a bummer... you need a replacement.

It's visible on the LCD playback.

Yeah I did.

I've had CF card problems a long time ago with my 40D. Bought the camera and it came w/ some cheapo 4gb CF card. So I've experienced the bad-CF-card problem before. And back then, the problem was never a consistent line in the same place. Which is why I feel this is definitely not a card problem, but more of a sensor/camera issue. It gets worse from 800 -> 1600 -> 3200 -> 6400.

Wow, that's pretty bad.

Hope it's isolated, and good that you're being treated well!
