Default RED Digital Camera

I'm sure you all have heard of the RED One Ultra HD Video Super-Camera... Well now they're making a digital camera and the spec's are crazy as well as the price. $28,000

Looks like they have adaptors for different lens brands. Looks like the Canon 85L in the picture.

if this beast comes out at this price - it will be bought like hot cakes. This is cheap. Mind you that a medium format digital back costs 35K + the camera + the lenses.

I don't get it, what does this camera have to offer for still shooting other than it's ability to mate with different lens mounts? It looks like an epic video camera but nothing special as a still camera. Or am I completely failing to read those specs correctly?

[5K (2:1) at 1-100fps] + [Multiple Recording Media Options (Compact Flash, 1.8" SSD, RED Drives, RED RAM)] + [ISO 200-8000] = amazing capabilities.

I've worked with the RED before, and while they may not be as good in low light as the new Canon/Nikon bodies just released, this is still a huge jump in sports shooting capability. There are plenty of other applications that could use it as well. Pricey for your standard consumer, yes... but very well worth it for those who are being paid well enough as photogs to afford it.

You guys say it looks like a transformer like that's a bad thing... Personally, I think it's the most awesome looking camera I've ever seen :O

As far as kids' toys go, yeah, it looks awesome, but are you sure you would be willing to use this camera, for example, on a day-long shoot at a public event, or at a wedding?

100fps stills from a FF sensor sounds pretty cool, but does anyone really even fully utilize 8-12fps we have on current dSLRs? I can't see someone paying 28 grand to shoot sports when a $4-8K Canon or NIkon is doing the job admirably. This is a video camera that can take great stills, just like the 5Dmk2 is a stil camera that can take great video. Someone looking at RED wants video first, and if you look at what a real studio camera runs, 28K is downright peanuts. budget filmmakers will love it.

crazy specs. looks like their DSMC is stepping over the top again.

nikon, eos adapter has been around on their original RED one but this one is over the top as it can control the electronics of the lenses.

canon or nikon DSLR can not shoot sport bc the lack of fast panning, or any other event required panning fast.

I guess but as someone already mentioned 10-12 is usually more than enough for most situations. On top of that I'm wondering how well the Canon and Nikon lenses will mate with the RED(I really have no idea) and, even if they do so flawlessly how good is the autofocus system inside the RED? Could it handle birds in flight or fast paced sports?
