Question Renaming File in Lightroom

I'm using LR3B and would like to rename the files when I export them for a web gallery so they don't say "_MG_arbitrary number.JPG". Is it possible, and if so, how do I do it? Thanks in advance.

I always rename my files on import, so I don't have to bother when exporting. But, you can rename a file(s) after importing by selecting one or more files and choosing Library/Rename (F2) and choosing your filename format, or in the Export dialog and doing the same.

Waiting 10min for a bump usually gets less responses than waiting an hour for someone who knows and is willing to help...

As for LR2/LR3, just make a custom name on the export screen. You can make it <anything you want> - ##.jpg (or any other extension), <date and time> - #, even <caption> or any one of about fifty different fields. try experimenting with it, and look at adobe's own website on more info on how to use the export dialog.

Sorry, I did wait about an hour and it was meant as light-hearted, not pushy...

Thanks Tony, that sounds like a winner. Changing name on import really wouldn't do the trick as these events had hundreds of pictures, but I only want to upload a handful after culling through them. But, a quick collection looks to work nicely.

Sure, you can handle selecting "keepers" a number of ways -- a quick collection is one, or flagging or tagging, then you can filter or go to the collection, select all (Ctrl-A), then F2 to Rename or Export (Ctl-Shift-E). There are a lot of renaming options.
