Default wtb: 18-55mm - present from poor student to mother!

Hey guys,

My mum's done loads for me recently, and has just picked up her 1st DSLR, but is using her old 28-80 and 75-300 lenses - so there's me thinking she could do with something to cover the oh-so important 18-28mm range.

I was hoping some of you might have an old one lying around collecting dust that I could purchase for her as a thank you present.

I've not set a budget, but haven't got a massive amount of cash to spend on it (doesn't help being a 2nd yr student here in Loughborough)!

It'd be much appreciated on my part (and hers!) if you could help out.

Regards,

Mike.

I would try an see if you can get good deal on a Tamron 17-50mm. Much better than an 18-55mm.

With the new VC version available you might be able to find the original on clearance in some stores.

Michael asks for a cheap $50ish (usd) lens and you are suggesting something that would cost at least 6x that?

Even if you look at the IS version of this lens, the Tamron is still 3x the cost.

I am sure somebody in the UK area has a spare non-IS 18-55 laying around for cheap!

There's probably a lot of them on eBay still.
