Default Vintage racing at Cadwell Park

A fun day at the Vintage Sports Car Club's race meeting at Cadwell Park (yeah, that's where I got the username from) in Lincolnshire. Met up with KennyG and I know he's probably going to be posting some stunning images; so working on the theory that the best form of defence is attack, I'm launching a pre-emptive one

These were all shot with my EOS 10D since the 1D Mark II is still out of commision

#1 - no, I haven't photoshoped the background. This was shot with the 500mm Sigma prime wide open at f/4.5 so it's blurred out the track behind in an interesting way isolating the subject.

#2 Ken doesn't do pans, so I'm safe here (Canon 70-200mm f/4L)

#3 MG amongst the trees (Sigma 120-300mm)

#4 Towards the end of the day I was playing some more with Depth of Field to isolate my subject. This was shot with the Sigma 120-300mm at f/3.5.

Thanks for looking and comments welcome.

Beat you by a couple of seconds. Thanks for the coffee by the way. My treat next time. We have Aggy's pictures and Paul B's to come next (that was Paul with me by the way). The 446MHz Icom units work rather well don't they?

The top one was the winner. I'm still chasing down races 6 and 11. HST is very slow at getting results out.

Why no tilt shots?

Yup, the Icom units are great! Ag's pictures might take a few days since he's been exiled to Wales for a bit... some project or other.

Tilt shots? I don't think the 10D has a tilt function I suppose I could photoshop something if you're desperate

For god's sake no, please. Only drunks see things on the tilt. At least Cadwell has real hills so most tilts are genuine. Shots gone off to MSV already so they have both days. Have a look at ff1600.co.uk by the way, Oulton report. You'd think people would fix WB and exposure.

Wondered where you got your user name. I see you captured the same beautiful MG that Ken did. Really like number 4 too.The others are good too. I just am attracted to red cars.

Red is good

Green can be excellent on the right car and of course it's traditional for British race cars

Bugattis really shouldn't be seen in other than blue

however, no-one could accuse this Bentley of being green - it was going off like a volcano on every corner, popping, banging and venting all sorts of fumes from every orifice - so I guess red is appropriate

Glenn,

Fantastic shots. Personally I can't get enough of these vintage racers. The last three shots are excellent, I like the angle and that you can see where the cars have come from. That said, #1 is awesome - I would happily have a framed version of that shot hanging in my study.

Look forward to reviewing your website when you get the other shots online.

Cheers,

Simon.

Number 1 is my favourite. Very nice.

You'd hardly know you were working with the backup camera!

Now the car looks quite big, but 24 litre seems like a bit much...

Best regards,
