Hi, im not sure when the release date is on this lens, but from checking out the price guide i think i will be replacing my current Sigma 17-70 for the new version with OS.
I might be a little eager but im desperate to see/compare shots with this lens and the original

Going to pick this lens up today for my wife, she's got the bug for a new lens to replace her kit lens. I'll post up some shots as soon as they're available.

Here's a quick picture, my wife's a shoot from the hip type photographer, doesn't care about the "details" just enjoys shooting. She's enjoying it, it's a lot sharper than the kit lens that came with her T1i although I think that goes without saying. The lens mount is pretty stiff and takes a little more to get it on the body than any other lens I've ever had and the focus ring is stiff too but seems to be pretty common from reading around. You can click through to see the original image, this is right out of the camera with no PP at all, simply uploaded to Flickr.

Thanks Jason for the sample pic.
Thinking about getting this lens to upgrade from the kit lens. Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 is a bit out of my reach in terms of price. |

No problem, I'll get some better pics up in the next few days for a better look at the lenses capabilities. I think it's a great lens for the price.

My wife ran out to run some errands so I nabbed the lens for a quick shot. This was shot at 1/30 @ f3.2. The first shot has no PP, simply converted to JPEG and resized for posting, the second shot is a crop of the first to show sharpness.

Sorry guys, haven't had a lot of time to be creative, I need to make more time for that... Here are a few my wife's snapped. They're from a Mac gallery that always seems to do some weird compression of photos so take these for what their worth.
This one is with her new lens and a Gary Fong puffer on the pop up flash. ![]() Overcast cold day. ![]() dark candy store ![]() CLICK HERE for a few more. Jason |
