I think I remember a couple of threads expressing a preference in the Canon repair centers. If you have any experience & feedback, I'd appreciate hearing from you.

I want to send the 30D in for cleaning and any necessary repairs as I am giving it to my daughter. Time is not an issue.

Thanks for your input.

I've heard a lot of people here compliment Jamesburg. That's where I go- but I live near it. I've never had a problem with them.

+1 for Jamesburg

I can't speak to other centers but have had fabulous service at Jamesburg. (I also live nearby.)

I'm in San Diego. There is no logical reason to ship one of my cameras to the east coast when there is a repair center right up the road in Irvine. When I had a warranty issue with my 40D back in June, I had it shipped to Irvine by my local camera shop. It was back within a week and has functioned flawlessly since...

I have not had any experience with the other center but Jamesburg gave me top notch customer service and turned my repairs around in 3 days. Dan explained exactly what they did and even took some photos with me to make sure I was happy with the fixes. Highly recommended.

NJ received my 7D on Dec 2ND, I received notification from FEDEX that they now have it and it will be delivered to me on the 7TH. However, when I had to send them my 40D, it took over a month for them to replace the shutter and mirror box assembly when the camera was only two months old.

No idea of any branches in New Zealand, but a while ago I sent one of 5D2's into Calumet for a repair, was quoted something that drew a long breath, and when it was repaired reasonably quickly, was charged only half of what I was quoted it would cost. I even pulled them up on it, 'Are you sure? The quote was for about double!'

'Yep, just double checked!' Was the reply. Ace :)

I agree. I send/take my camera and lenses to Jamesburg only because it's a driving distance from my home. But if I lived in the West coast, I'd send my gear to Irvine. Jamesburg and Irvine are both Canon facilities. It's not like we're talking about different companies running each one. :)

Mmm... just an opinion. they need some individual authorized canon service centers like Nikon b/c its annoying to wait. lol

Nikon, then Canon, then Nikon again. But I still love POTN over NikonCafe. :p

Thanks for your responses. From what I read here, it seems that satisfaction in terms of quality of service is pretty equal.
