Default Baseball Cards

I took the photos that the Daytona Cubs used for their team baseball card set this season. Several fans have told me that they're better than most of the cards they've had in the past and I attribute much of that to what I've learned from the kind folks here. Here's a scan of six cards from the 30-card set.

Nice shots. I like the action shots on the cards rather than just head shots like you see in most youth leagues. Did you create the cards yourself?

from these examples, i understand why people think they are better than years previous because that is one fine selection of random images that showcase your photographic skills. you clearly had no choice who or what was going to appear where and they all look fabolous, good on you for being able to supply a full card set of fine images. congrats

Thanks. The front office specified action shots and the guys seem to like them better than posed photos. The cards set was published by Choice Cards and they, like most of the other baseball card producers, offer several templates that customers choose from. The boss selected this template and he sent them an action and mug shot of each guy for the cards.

Thanks -- these aren't exactly a random selection of cards though . Five of them made the Florida State League All-Star Team this season -- Marshall, Walker, Marmol, Wells and Moore. The sixth card, Dopirak, is one of the top prospects in minor league baseball according to Baseball America. I selected these six cards to post here so that if any Chicago Cubs fans happen to see this thread they'll know what these guys look like. We might see one or more of them in the bigs someday.

The one that has really impressed me so far this season is Scott Moore -- I suggest that you jot his name down in your Cubs notebook. If you want to see another pic of Dopirak, that's him in a thread I posted the other day at:

My pics has been published a few times -- in Baseball America, At The Yard, and local newspapers and magazines. The Chicago Cubs monthly magazine, VineLine, uses my stuff frequently. In their next issue, Baseball America will be publishing an article about major renovations done at our ballpark during the off season and I think they'll use one of my pics in it. I'll be shooting at the Florida State League All-Star game this weekend and with luck I'll get something there that'll be of interest to the rags. It's fun but I'd starve if I had to depend on income from minor league basball pics to put food on the table . IMO the only folks who make any money in minor league baseball are the few players who get big signing bonuses. We're all chasing a dream tho and some dreams do come true.

Thanks -- as I said in my reply to felix21685 above, there's not much money to be made in minor league baseball. When folks tell me that the cards are good and when I see players autographing their card for kids, it gives me feelings that money can't buy.
