Yeah you scared me too. Two 1800mAh BP-511's just arrived yesterday. I never had a problem using aftermarket batteries on my Nikon D70 so I guess I shouldn't have to worry about them on my 20D. btw, they were only $26 for both.

My 20D came with a BP511A which I think is 1390MAH. My batteries from SterlingTek.com are 1800mah.

The Rebel XT comes with a 720 mAh battery. I recently bought some 1000 mAh batteries on eBay from everydaysource for $1.49 each. Even after shipping the total price for two came to under $14 US. Sure it's not 1800mAh, but it beats paying $89 Canadian for Canon.

I'm interested in getting some extra batteries for my 20d, so I checked out SterlingTec.
I noticed two different types of BP-511 batteries. BP-511 http://www.sterlingtek.com/ln03-cano...11-dlc511.html BP-511A http://www.sterlingtek.com/cabpbapaeq.html I see that both have 1800 mAh and are the same price, so what is the differance? Looking at the pdf manual for the 20d I see that it is suppose to come with the BP-511A battery. Which battery should I purchase? |

I would bet that those are the same battery. The "A" represents a high capacity battery that shipped with the 20D, AFAIk that's the only difference betwen 511 and 511A - capacity.

Hey hey,
Just noticed this thread. I am also looking to buy some extra canon (or canon-ish) batteries, coincidently for a trip to Mount Kilimanjaro. 4 spare batteries for £32 sounds like a bargain. Have any of you had any problems with these sterlingtek batteries? Trying to make my mind up between spending £45 on canon batteries or go the third party route. TIA, munchy |
