Default Special: Moon + Jupiter

Was told on the news today, about a rare occurrence of Jupiter passing behind the moon. Apparently it's not due to be visible here again for about 70 years.

Of course, I was there to photograph it.

Just before disappearing

Fading away

Reappearance

A rare BLUE MOON.

And a slightly larger image: (Click)

There's been no cheating in these images, such as double exposures or brightening Jupiter. They are as is. Just a overall level change slightly, and a bit of USM.

I've also put together a few recent shots in the past 3 days to:

Cheers

Great shots. Looked out earlier and noticed Jupiter and the Moon close together. Didn't realise that the moon had passed in front though. Glad you caught it. !

Scope. These are mostly resizes rather than crops.

Cool, didn't even know that happened. I'm also interested in the scope setup with the camera.

Thanks, but it only happened in certain parts of the world. Such as North of Brisbane, and it lasted from 6:20 till about 7:30.

In 70 years, I would say the atmosphere would be too polluted, and would have to take shots from space.

That's great! You can even see Jupiter's bands and red spot!

Wazza, is that a piggyback mounting on top of that scope?. Put the wide angle on it and get a full sku 'milky way' photo. Or is Auckland too light polluted for long exposures ?.
