My 70-200 2.8 is stuck to my 7d.
But if I can get closer then I'll have to mix it up with something wider.

Have you ever tried the 70-200mm f4?

I actually sold my 2.8 non IS to get the f4 because it was much sharper. The f4 is a great lens. Check out that lens in the sample archives and see what it can do. I have some great skiing shots from last week posted.

What lens do you guys find yourselves using most out on the track? I have a friend who wants me to start taking his pictures and Im looking for a good lens!

I almost always use the 70-200 2.8 isII. I go through and use all my lenses though, the 50 1.4 makes some great shots if your close enough.

I used to have the F4 and its pretty damn sharp, the 2.8 non is isnt as sharp as the F4, but has the 2.8 if your doing indoor. The 2.8 isII is sharper of them all, its worth every penny in my mind.

Kurt, you have some great photos on your website. What gear will you be taking to Daytona?

I am going to try to go light. Never tried supercross before.

1DIIN 7D 50D
70-200mm 2.8 300mm 4 (might just use it during the day) 17-40mm 8mm

and a 580 exii to play with.

I'll go early and walk around with not much gear to plan out when I need for the main event.

I could get in, but air fares are just stupid now. It's hard to justify the expense of going there.

This track brings back good memories. I had my first concussion there when it was Starwest a few years back.
