I'm not anywhere near the level of you guys, but here are some of my amateur shots from yesterday. Once the rain started really coming down, I put my stuff away, so I don't have any of the "good" stuff.

It turned out my media outlet got credentials for photo but not track access (they were very limited on track access... about 10-15 shooters total, plus the access they had was highly restricted) so I shot a couple shots at practice and got poured on. I had shots of the bikes I needed so I put the gear away... I would have got it back out but my shoes/feet were SOAKED SOLID since 2pm and every step hurt... not worth it to me.

Here are a couple mud shots during practice. Nothing I'm proud of but it was MUDDY!!

I personally dont mind cutting wheels off I think it looks fine, but what do everyone think about it?

It more depends on the overall composition of the image. Cut wheels don't really make or break a photo IMHO...

Yeah I kinda look at the rider being the focus and if it still works with a wheel cut in half it still works lol. I guess I've always just never looked at it with the same "rules" as portraits

It by far was not the worst sports event I have done rain wise but it lasted... all... day...

I really want to invest in to the Think Tank rain gear. From people I know that use it the stuff seems to work great.

yeah I cant find the video now, but I seen someone take their d3s into the shower with it, looks like it would be worth grabbing for a night like that!

Here's one more that I put together this morning. This was taken just before the beginning of the round on qualifying.

For something like a team shoot I would follow the portrait "rules" but for action shooting those "rules" don't really apply. It is not like you can stop the rider and say "hey can you bend your arm a little more?"
