Default Any film users

I know this is a digital forum, but I was wondering if there are any film users on here.

I still have my film cameras (though I only have a film in the AE1 at the moment) and still get a perverse sort of pleasure from using them.

The funny thing is that I can now pick up FD fit lenses for a fraction of the price they would have been when new, which makes the enjoyment even sweeter.

I've got a Rebel S film body that I bought mainly for the flash and lenses to use with my XT. I'll keep it for when I am a little more well versed in the process, so as not to waste film.

I have a EOS 1V, and I also shoot large format 4x5 and 8x10 film too. I love it.

I've still got a 1N RS which is a great camera and though I have considered selling a couple of times, can never bring myself to do so. Just waiting for the 1D with a pellicle mirror...

Nice. I haven't shot much medium format, honestly. Would like to though.

I've shot with a hassleblad digital medium format but obviously not the same. I own a Hassleblad Imacon scanner to digitize all my stuff..if you've heard of one of those? They're awesome, scan at 6200dpi.

There is a square digital back and I think there are more to come. No I have never used that scanner.

I've got a Voigtlander VSL-3 but I never got as involved with film as I have with digital. It was nice to use but I felt like I should have taken shots that were worth it because of the costs involved and I just never found myself doing just that.

I could soon try some controlled situations with some off camera lighting and see how they turn out to compare though!

What I find I am doing now, so as to not waste film, is take a digital photo first. Once I am happy with the result, I then transfer the settings to my film camera.

I know it's cheating (sort of) but the bonus of digital is being able to immediately see what you have taken. All I am doing is effectively conveying that benefit to my film shots.

The thing I find so nice about film is getting prints back and seeing how they turned out. Knowing exactly what you're getting takes that little bit of surprise out of shooting film.
