Hi,
I got a G3 a couple of weeks ago, and, stupidly, ran the dead pixel test program on it. So, there's a small cluster of hot pixels. Basically, there's one at 1665,1186 that gets luminance of 34 at ISO50 and 1/30 shutter speed (or luminance of 197 at 1sec exposure), and a couple more that appear in neighbouring locations at slower shutter speeds. So, is this worth exchanging the camera for?? What are the chances of getting one with more hot pixels? And are they supposed to have none, or is one or two okay?? Greg |

I exchanged mine because of one DEAD (white) pixel, visible in night shots as artificial star... The new G3 has no dead pixels, but a few hot pixels (reddish), which is acceptable to me.

oh, wait, my pixel shows up as white in dark shots, not red. I guess i thought it was a hot pixel because the luminance value was changing as a function of exposure time, while i would have expected a dead pixel to just have a constant value regardless of exposure time.
so, how do you tell whether the pixel is dead or hot?? greg |
