Default My first posts

Ok with the help of some of the members I am now I hope going to post my first pictures ever taken on my first trip west using my first digital camera the xsi.lots of firsts here.
one is in the Canyonland National Park's island in the sky section late in the day I was waiting out a storm when the rainbow happened it was hand held using a mono pod at a low shutter speed.I wanted to convay the primative ethernal nature of this shot.so in canons DPP i enhanced the colors a bit and tried to sharpen the image unfortunatly i did not shoot this on Raw.
the second image is a wall I believe it was again late in the day hand held the color was amazing it was taken at Capital Reef National Park in Utah. This is the beginning of what will become over time a natural arch. This reef was was formed by the subduction of the passific under the contenental plate some 800 miles away on the west cost of the USA. I did some sharpening and perhaps a bit of saturation in DPP but not much
I just love the beauty of our South West America this area is part of what is known as the colorado platue.
I just previewed my post and the pictures are their lol not as sharp or as vivid as being their but you will getthe idea.

failed to mention elevation in rainbow picture is at 6000 feet the rainbows end are what are known as hoodoos and are from 400 to 600 ft high. the arch is perhaps 100 to 150 ft at its high point if i recall.

If the first picture was sharp with more detail it would be a keeper! Looks just a little hazy that day maybe. Good for first post.

The 2nd one is nice.. the first would be better with a blue sky, not sure you can fix it, without HDR and post editing as it is.

yup the rain bow pic seems to have a lot of noise in the sky but I shot it at iso100. I also have the kit lens so optics are not upper crust. The right side of the rainbow area had rain the left side partly sunny.
