Just an FYI, I bought this one...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=390104127989

And I'm not saying it was a bad purchase, cause their customer service fixed all issues, but the thing came in without the bulbs and without the backdrops. I emailed them, and customer service shipped them out the next day 2-3 days later got them, and the backdrops were the 20" size, not the correct 25" sized ones that should have come with it and one of the bulbs, while packed well, was broken (probably a UPS issue there). Emailed them again, and they sent the right sized backdrops and a new light bulb. So after about two weeks, I finally have it all here and up and working. Its a great little setup, can't complain. If you are handy at all though, you could make a setup like this and save some money. I'm not very hobby or handy, so I chose to buy and have it all here and ready to unpack and go, and it would have been had I not had all the other issues.

That company seems to be the only one one ebay selling the kit like mine, and again the customer services was great, so while I warn, I also praise them.

Get to it and add to this thread! I want to see more Action Figures!

How's your progress coming Chris?
Well since I just now got all my stuff for the kit finally, I haven't had a lot of chances to shoot my stuff, that and my photography class assignments have been to do something other than what this kind of photography lends itself to. I will get my setup back up this week and play with some more and post some samples. I need to iron out my back drops as the creases in them when folded up and shipped really do hurt the use of them.

I've been using a cut-up cardboard box with a hole cut at the top for the lamp. and white posterboard on the sides and back of the box. Certainly not the most ideal setup since it made the lighting a little bit harder to correct. I need to go out and get some white fabric and make a better one.

Anyway here are a few I took using that setup with Canon XSi + 18-55mm IS kit lens.

Nice stuff. #1 looks like a way to get a 9mil onto a plane. Have the kid carry it right past the inspectors. LOL

I did the DIY Light Box and it worked great. Especially since I am in TV and had access to real Diffusion Paper. Problem is once I am done I am stuck with the BOX and no where to put it. Live in a small Condo with my Wife and son, so space is like Gold around here... once found it does not last long. Here are some of the results of the DIY kit

Nice stuff soze and mr0072003! Thanks for sharing! Do any of you guys have the materials to shoot on say a black or blue or red background, I'd like to see some of those kinds of shots too. Great toys here though!

soze, are those first two original Transformers, vintage? What are the last two I've seen them before?

Here's my simple lame setup. Using a printed background taped against a wall. Flash bounced of the ceiling.

And here's another without the printed BG.

First 2 are not original vintage. They are part of the "Masterpiece" collection from Japan and stand around 12" tall. Really articulate (not bricks).

2nd to last is from Bandai's Metal Material Model Gundam line.

last one is Battle Fever Robo from Bandai's Soul of Chogokin line.

I have a lot more, but haven't gotten around to shooting them all yet. Here's a link to some pictures of what I currently have, but I really want to go back and re-shoot a lot of them, and add the rest of my collection when I get around to it.

First one taken outdoors (on top of our garden wall) with 5DII & 100L

Second taken against large sheet of white card with two 12V halogen lamps illuminating (5DII, 100L, ISO3200)

Third taken against black card with just the figurine's illumination (7D, 100L, ISO6400)

A different take. I wanted a moody/creepy feel for this lil horror icon so I tried a light painting technique for this shot.
