Well guys,
I go to the gym during my lunch hour. Today, I had my 20D with me in my car but was not sure if I should risk keeping it in the car or taking it in. Decided to keep it in the car. Well, to make a long story short, I did my 30min workout routine, returned to my locker and noticed my lock was missing. I open it up and saw that my clothes were still there and my wallet was there too. So, I thought I must have forgotten to lock the locker (which, I never do). Put my clothes back on and tracing my steps in my mind. Just could not believe that I would forget. Look through my wallet and realized all my cash was gone. My credit cards and ID were still there. My cell phone was still there. My other pocket had a $5000 Cartier watch in it still. My car keys were still in my pocket too. Had I brought my 20D in, it might be gone right now. I would really be bummed, since I just bought this camera last week. Lost about $100 cash which is nothing compared to what I could have lost. So all in all, it was a wake up call for me. Where do you store your camera gear when you bring it out? |

mostly in my car. but it's all insured. highly recommend you get a rider on your home owner's insurance. it's about $50/year for $10,000 worth of stuff.

Strange thief for sure. Going through the trouble of breaking in and leaving the credit cards behind...

I would count myself lucky and check into insurance; that said if left in the car how hot can a camera and lens get before doing any damage.

OceanView, Look into (if you haven't already) getting your watch added to your homeowners insurance policy. My Tag is insured for about the same amount, and it's very nice to have that peace of mind. |

I've not got a $5000 watch - but I wouldn't leave $5000 cash in a locker in a public area. In the UK an insurance company would be unlikely to pay out if you had your watch stolen and they knew it was kept in a locker in a gym.

More importantly, why a $5000 watch and only a 20D ?

Use to work at a gym. Lockers are broken into regularly regardless of the type of gym. They keep it hush hush. Keep nothing of any value in the locker.

This is why you should have a selection of watches.
I have a nice 800 dollar swiss watch for special occasions, an electronic one for sports and a few unkillable russian mechanical waterproof shockproof self-winding watches which I use and abuse without second thoughts.
