Default 7D shutter count?
Hi All,
Is there a way to figure out how many clicks on my lightly used 7D?

If it has never been reset just take a picture and the image number is your counter.

unless you done 10.000 or more. on the 30d it resets back to 0 after 10.000

that was changed one the 40D and later.

The 7d has a shutter count thing under battery info and it will tell you the shutter count, now I don't know if it changes when you reset or whatever.

When you charge the battery it resets the battery info shutter count

EOS info does not work on the 7D or T1i/500D. Probably won't work on any other newer cameras that Canon might release. At least not until the EOSInfo software is updated.

No their is a watch battery that retains the info. If you have to change that watch battery (about every 5 years) put a fully charge camera battery in. Memory stays.

The "watch battery" does not retain battery shutter count info. On the 7D, the battery shutter count is re-set when you change the battery.

The battery info shutter count is reset when you charge the battery. It is specific to each battery.

Canon stopped supporting the shutter count with the later releases of their SDK and so I suspect that even Farmer Dave's EOSInfo program won't work with newer models.

So for software developers, to be able to access the newer models you need to use later versions of the SDK (2.6 and 2.7) but in versions after 2.5 they won't let you get to the ShutterCount data.

Sucks.
