Default AOL introduces Seed.com Beta, a new way to get togs for hire

It's like microstock, but they tell you what to shoot and how much they will pay up front:
http://www.seed.com/

Interesting, not sure I'm down with it, but at least its a new idea.

Seems like it could be a cool idea but i think it would depend on how many assignments they post up at any given time. It there is only 5 for instance there will be hundreds of submissions and the likely-hood that they will use yours is very rare.

Interesting actually, I'm signed up. I am unclear as to whether after submitting photos for a certain topic if AOL will compete them against anybody else who puts photos in for the same topic (I'm assuming this is the case). I would hate to invest too much time into any one assignment only for it to not be used.

Read the Terms and Conditions?

Appears to be the case. Multiple people reply to an assignment and then whoever the editor is for that assignment selects the submitted images that will be used. They aren't paying all that much for some of these assignments either .

There are a couple of sites like that right now. FocalPop is the only one I can remember. The fees are small ranging from 35-110 on FocalPop that I have seen, not enough to really get your juices going if there is any real work in putting together a shoot for the assignment.

This is simply how stock works. Micro or regular. Assignment to submition based.

I can help AOL rewrite their agreement to make is simpler to read and understand:

Quote:
You agree to assign all copyright and ownership rights to AOL. You further agree that you will pay $100 to AOL each time AOL uses your image in any way it deems appropriate.
