Unless you need the resolution I can't see anyone jumping from Canon to get the D800. The 5D MKIII specs look very impressive to me ... we'll just have to see what the images look like.

Image quality is exactly why some might jump to Nikon. Since availability is late March I'm guessing we'll see RAW files very soon.

$3500!!! WTF CANON! This is my fork in the road. The D800 seems so much more attractive now, im finding it hard to stay canon right now. stupid canon......

It's simple, really.

Corporate clients will buy the 1Dx anyway (since they are mostly action-oriented, with smaller print sizes), while beginners/basic amateurs don't have a lot invested in lenses, so they can jump ship easily.

Independent professionals and advanced amateurs, though, tend to have a lot tied up in lenses (thus being unable to jump ship easily), and favour the 5D-type bodies (a lot of them being wedding, fine art and landscape photographers who don't need the speed, but may need resolution). Therefore, they're easy to rip off.

well looking at the jpeg samples theres no banding so thats a plus... 6400 has some pretty heavy NR however and 3200 looks clean! I must investigate further.

The canon site shows the Battery Grip BG-E6 as an accessory do you think the old bat grip will work in the new 5dmkIII?
