Default New firework technique

So I stumbled upon a process. BW gradient map (inverted), color gradient map, and selective color. Its produces a look similar to the "find edges" or "neon edges" filters, but with more control. I just bought a whole cartload of fireworks, so look for more of this series!

I like the effect. Have you recorded the action?

Nah. Never do. Each photo gets its own rendition. Takes longer, a tiny bit, but I feel better about it lol.

I'd rather not on this one. I'd usually say yes, but this is special Mess around with a black and white (reversed ala negative) gradient map over a selective color layer. Drop opacities, adjust sliders on the colors and the black white and grey channels of selective color, etc. I'm also not 100% on the details, this was more or less a beautiful accident with some idea of what I was doing. But I only used four layers total, and one was plain curves, so whatever I did I did in three steps.

I guess you had to be here early to see the image ...

Haha. I've definitely forgotten techniques over the years, not many, but a few for sure. I often save a PSD of a certain process to refer to for a few days until I have it memorized.
