Default Used Epson 4800, Good buy? Still Relevant?

A co-worker offers me her Used Epson 4800. She didn't use it much during her ownership. And she hasn't used it in a while. Recently, She was moving and tried out the printer just to see how it still works. She found that there were streaks on the print.

She wants to sell it for 300 bucks.

my questions are, is the epson 4800 still relevant today? What could be the cause of the streaks on the print? She said it could be the print head or just simply bad ink since she hasn't used it much.

a new print head costs 469 with a quick search on google.

I am not a professional. Just want to print some of my photos out for friends and families. But I am also looking to sell prints in the near future. therefore looking to purchase a pro-grade printer.

Thx

I am not sure what the used market is for a 4800. Is the current model the 4880? Keep in my mind that ink will run you ~$500 or more for this printer. I have the 3880 and I absolutely love it. The 4800 is a big printer and will need a fair amount of space.

4880 is the current model.

No one else has experience with the old 4800?

We've got a 4800 that still chugs away. Very relevant, it still makes great prints & good money for us.

The only reason we'd consider getting rid of it would be to move up to a 24" printer.
