I forgot my flash in a hotel room in Malaysia last week, and I contacted the hotel to ask them to look for it. They found it, and said that I could get a delivery company to come to them and pick it up to ship it back to me...
I have looked at around 5-6 different international shipping companies now to ship this flash from Malaysia to the Netherlands (including a pick-up), but it seems very difficult to find a cheap/good one. All the websites are pretty much horrible, and requires lengthy registrations to obtain a quote for the shipping prices. Does anybody have any recommendations as to which delivery company to use for this transaction? There's no rush on getting this flash back, so the shipment itself can take awhile, if its cheaper.... Thanks! |

Hi,
There are dozens of courier servicing companies here in Malaysia. FedEx is a well known name. Maybe you could ask FedEx in Malaysia to do the pick-up. As for the price, I believe most of them are charging at pretty much the same rate - competition amongst them and you will not be extra charged. Suggest you email to them (here in Malaysia) asking for the charge rate. Problem: How you want to get your flash boxed? Maybe the hotel can help you. Or maybe you could ask anybody you know to do that for you but that is at a risk. Better ask the hotel. Usually they will help if they are have a good prestigous name. I am Malaysian and most hotel here are happy to lend you their hands. Hope that could help you in a way. mohdzalani@gmail.com |

Hi, and thanks for replying. I have been setting up an account with Fedex and scheduling a pickup, but it takes ages... I thought FedEx would supply the packaging for my flash (just a padded envelope) as an option (?).
I just got the phone number I need to call them (first got a Malaysian number I couldn't dial), and will call them during my lunch break. Hope I can get it back within two weeks, as I need to use it for a big event |

Wow, thats a nightmare. I would go with a company you recognize like FEDEX. Id also suggest renting if you cant get it back in time.

FedEx is being painfully slow; they still haven't picked up the item even though it was scheduled 7 days ago.The slowdown is caused by me scheduling the pickup outside of Malaysia.
Hope everything goes well in the transfer. I can probably borrow a flash (no need to rent) if I can't get it in time, but I prefer to use my own equipment. |

Really sorry to hear that. If only I live in KL, i would surely give you some help. It is actually very easy from my side here but I live in Kuantan, at the other side of peninsular Malaysia. I hope they do not give you anymore hardship other than what they have.
