Default Olympic hockey game (Finland vs. Belarus)

My second picture posts (first one was buried in the nifty fifty thread).

They were taken on Wednesday, in a round robin ice hockey game between Finland and Belarus. Finland won 5-1. I had 2nd row seats!

All taken with the nifty fifty on a T1i, handheld. Only some cropping and WB adjustment in LR for PP. Please C&C!

Finnish defenseman Sami Salo, a local favourite (plays for the Vancouver Canucks):

Teemu Selanne chases the puck in 3rd period action:

Mad scramble in front of the Belarussian net:

Finnish captain Saku Koivu gathers up a loose puck:

Sergei Kostitsyn of Belarus battling for position:

Getting ready for a faceoff:

Finnish legend Teemu Selanne:

Handshakes after the game. Nothing like sportsmanship:

Thank you for your comments. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the pictures. The nifty fifty is a real bargain

We love our boy Salo in this part of town, but not so much if he faces Canada!

Selanne just broke the Olympic all-time scoring record.

Nice pics.

No problems taking your camera in? I am going to the quarter finals and would love to bring my 7D and 70-200. I'm concerned with not being able to bring it in and then not having time to go back to my hotel before the game begins.

Thank you for your compliment.

Not a problem at all bringing DSLR's. Guy a few seats next to me was shooting with a 70-200L. Before you enter Canada Hockey Place, you will go through a screening area (akin to an airport security checkpoint). Through the X-ray machines and whatnot.

Since it's the Q-F's, I'd suggest you get there EARLY (especially if Canada is playing), as in a couple hours early. The checkpoints make entering a realllll slow process. Have fun! The experience is amazing, hope you have good seats!

Awesome. Thanks for the tips. I don't know exactly where our seats are but they are category "A" so should be all right.

Should be an great experience.

Thanks! I really like that pic too, I like the fact he's looking towards "something".

The nifty's performance actually really surprised me, for a $100 lens, it's exceeded every expectation I have. It's so versatile, even with the fixed FL.

The GREAT seats helped, of course.

T1i too, just like you

When I get home tonight I'll dig up the exif for you.

I have been watching every single game. I was rooting for Latvia to pull off the upset, but they were one goal short. Great effort though. My cousin went to the Slovakia-Norway game last night and he said it was great.

GO CANADA GO!!
