Link to Map: Photography Map (Thanks Mark!)
Link to Calendar: Events Calendar (Double Thanks!) Well, I came up with an ingenious idea for us Northwesterners and people who are traveling in the region: make a thread that is dedicated to events, locations, questions and general info about where to go shooting in the Pacific Northwest. Whether you shoot birds, people, landscapes, cars, street photography or what-have-you, this can be your go-to thread to find some new places to check out and bust out your gear! The general idea, and of course there are no set rules here, is to post a picture of a place you've visited, or a bird you sited, or a good area for portraiture, whatever you want, and show/tell us where it is. A few people have mentioned using Google maps, which I think is great! We can all find out where to go a lot easier this way, especially in those hard to get to spots. I'll start us off and hope that others join in! Also don't be afraid to post up events that are happening around the Northwest e.g. car shows, races, photography contests, concerts, outdoor performances, get togethers that we might want to have etc etc. Bottom line, this thread is whatever we want to make it, but I hope that it will get people out there shooting more stuff and having a great time in the PNW! Thanks all! Let me just reiterate, this isn't just for people in Washington and Oregon. I believe the PNW covers parts of Northern California, British Colombia. The point is to explore our area more and take pictures, so the more diverse the crowd, the better!

Here is one of my favorite places to go hiking in the Gorge area (Oregon side) would have to be Angels Rest. It's a couple miles before you reach multnomah falls with a 2m hike to the top, and if you'd like I believe it actually wraps around into the trails that surround the falls. These were taken late spring early summer last year.
![]() ![]() It was early so still low cloud cover, but it has an absolutely stunning view up and down the Gorge! Here's where ya go: looks like it's exit 28 when you're heading east on i-84, should see signs for bridal veil.

I created a Google Map for Photography Locations - the link is here:
Photography Map I've marked one of my favorite spots on there already. I can add folks as collaborators and they can add their favorite locations as well. To get added, just PM me the e-mail address you'd like to use and I'll send you an invite.

this is a great idea. We have several places that we can add in both states. If I ever get it together, I'll have some addresses and sample photos later

It's not very intuitive. Give me a few minutes and I'll post some directions and screen captures.

Okay, here's how you do it:
You need to have a Google Account to do this, but it's free and easy to set up. Sign in to your account, thne go to the map linked above. Find the place where you'd like to place your marker. This click the edit button: ![]() This will give you access to the map markup tools which you can then use to place your marker: ![]() Once you place your marker, a window will open so you can add the details: ![]() Hope that makes it clearer for everyone.

One more thought, Mark, you might want to repost that like to a view of the map that is zoomed out from Cape Mears (not that I don't enjoy Cape Mears, you understand, but that when you zoom out from that little spot you are pretty distant from the rest of the area)!

OK, Edit does not show -- I imagine we have to join something, I guess join Google and then join a group for this map?

It's a public map, so I think you just need to join Google. If that doesn't work, PM me an e-mail address and I can add you as a collaborator on the map.
